Specifications

VitroClean currently comes in two versions: VitroClean Aquatic (formerly VitroClean #35) and VitroClean Green. Both are a direct replacement for #20 silica sand and are used in a similar manner. Bulk density is 80 lbs per cubic foot. You will need 20% less VitroClean than silica sand because of its lower density.
We recommend using a coarse media, or VitroClean Pebble to cover the laterals, especially in filters requiring more than 200 lbs of media. Simply cover the laterals with clean pea gravel, coarse sand or VitroClean Pebble to a bed depth of at least 1 inch above the laterals. This will help insure proper flow and diffusion on backwash.

VitroClean Aquatic

VitroClean Aquatic is specifically engineered for high performance, high demand applications such as water parks and large institutional pools. VitroClean Aquatic is certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 50 and is approved for use by all major filter manufacturers. We manufacture Aquatic from post-industrial plate glass to make a white-gray filter media.

VitroClean Green has the same performance charactaristics as VitroClean Aquatic. We manufacture VitroClean Green from 100% recycled glass. Using our proprietary milling technology, we remove contaminates to produce a clean, high quality filter media. Color will vary depending on the feedstock.
VitroClean Pebble VitroClean Pebble is a replacement for gravel to be used over the laterals. We recommend, but do not require, the use of VitroClean Pebble or clean pea gravel over the laterals. Always follow the instructions provided by your filter manufacturer.
